Forward, Bukayo Saka has been named England Player of the Year for the 2022/2023 season.
The English Football Association made this known on Tuesday, September 5 after he was voted as the Men’s Best Player by fans.
Saka won the award ahead of Real Madrid midfielder, Jude Bellingham and Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane, who were second and third respectively – thereby achieving the feat for two consecutive years.
“Back to back, what an honour 🏆 Thank you to everybody who voted me England’s Men’s Player of the Year I’m very grateful 🙏 #GodsChild,” the winger tweeted on Wednesday, September 6.
He had earlier won the Professional Footballers’ Association Young Player of the Season and also made the PFA Team of the Year for the 2022/2023 season.
The 22-year-old scored 14 goals in 38 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season – and was instrumental to the Gunners returning to Champions League football after finishing behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in second place.
Saka has also netted twice in four games for Mikel Arteta’s side this season.
